I can’t be the only one that woke up this morning wanting to dance around like a cave man while listening to heavy fuckin’ music. Thankfully, a new single from hardcore/metal band Growing Pain just so happened to fall into my lap at the perfect time.
The band released their debut EP Negative Energy back in May of 2020, near the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. Admittedly, this release flew under my radar, but since being tipped off by an e-mail in our inbox, I’ve been pretty into it. The music isn’t life changing, but it’s done so capably well and the production is more than solid, mak6 song EP lasts just under 15 minutes, just how I like it. We’re here for a good time, not a long time, right?
Their latest single, titled “Disconnected” picks up where the band left off. Opening with some distorted feedback and ominous noise, the song quickly get’s going with a galloping bass drum and chugging guitar combo. It’s simple, it’s tight, it fuckin’ rules. The song evolves into an up-tempo classic hardcore punk tune complete with pick slides and chugs-a-plenty. Hell yeah.
It’s unclear if this single is a precursor to an upcoming album or EP, but for now, I’ll just enjoy “Disconnected” on it’s own. I also added it to my Plunder Over Louisville playlist on Spotify.

EDITOR’S NOTE: It took everything in me not to make any bad Kirk Cameron jokes while writing this post. Everyone should be proud of me.
