Johnny Berry Halfway to Louisville

As the immortal Merle Haggard once said, country music often gives me the urge to “drink up and be somebody”. That sentiment rings true with the brand spankin’ new single from Johnny Berry & the Outliers. “Halfway to Louisville” is the song’s title, and it serves as the first single from the band’s upcoming record Hillbilly Star. The new album doesn’t have a firm release date, but it slated to be released later this year on sonaBLAST! Records.

Speaking of Merle Haggard, it’s hard not to think of the old Poet of the Common Man while listening to “Halfway to Louisville”. It’s an infectious, swinging country tune heavily reminiscent of the classic Hag tune “Ramblin’ Fever”. I’m imagining myself in an 18-wheeler coasting through Middle America, anticipating a good time later with some friends at the neighborhood dive. The song has me feeling so good that I’ve decided the first round of drinks will be on me.

It’s also worth mentioning that all of Johnny Berry’s back catalogue has been added to Spotify, so that’s awesome. I’ve spent this morning listening to Shoot! Darn! Yeah! — it fuckin’ rules, by the way.
